Social History
PEA-RIFLE ACCIDENT.
RABBIT TRAPPER SHOT.
At dusk yesterday afternoon Robert Howling, 33 years, of Carroll-street, North Melbourne, set out, accompanied by his four-year-old son, and carrying a pea rifle, to set some rabbit traps at Croydon.
Howling laid the loaded rifle on the ground, and proceeded to set a trap. The child picked up the rifle, and a few seconds later it was discharged, the bullet striking Howling in the back near the. shoulder.
He was taken to the Alfred Hospital and admitted. His condition is not serious.
