The Walnut Tree, 458 William Street, West Melbourne.
“Openwork colums are very rare in Melbourne. The detail in the photo shows openwork colums, the wooden shutters which always add grace to the windows, and another feature unique to this building – a galloping horse and rider, perhaps inspired by Adam Lindsey’s poem “How we beat the favourite”, or perhaps less romantically, because the owner was keen on horse-racing, or because his winnings paid for the house”
