Subsequent Building Alterations
William French’s historic “Gold Rush” era two story terrace was sadly demolished sometime in the late 1960’s and replaced with a large block of flats that has no front or back garden space.

This is the 1895 MMBW map. The valued front and back yard open garden space marked green which these Victorian era terrace homes once had, have since been lost and significantly built over by the redevelopment.

The group of 12 modern flats recently erected on the corner at 6 Abbotsford street & Railway Place site which replaced the previous homes that had unique social and historical value and constructed here in the Victorian period, the new build has zero historical or social heritage significance nor do they have as much rear open garden space that other existing Victorian terraces in the surrounding area have. |
